Saltwater Reels

Saltwater reels are some of the more advanced reels on the market today. There are a few reasons for this but the main one is simply the tempestuousness of the sea. A good reel will be able to counter this by its durability and corrosion resistance.

Durability is essential for all saltwater reels. Ocean fish tend to be much larger than their cousins in rivers and lakes and so a strong reel is essential. Often ocean fish can weigh eighty pounds or more and when you reel in a fish of that magnitude, you’ll want a reel that can handle that sort of pressure.

Because salt causes metal to corrode, a good saltwater reel must be corrosion resistant. Make sure to choose a reel that is made of alloys resistant to rust and corrosion. This will ensure that the reel will remain strong and durable for many years to come.
