Trolling Reels

Trolling is the sub-discipline of fishing which involves moving through the water at a very slow speed to mimic the lures actual speed were it real. It is a fun way to see some sights and hopefully catch a fish. Trolling reels can be either spinning reels or baitcasting reels which have been adjusted specifically for trolling.

The method by which normal reels are converted into trolling reels is that the drag setting must be adjusted so that the lure convincingly looks like the life form it’s meant to resemble. In most instances, you’ll want to tighten the drag a bit but every reel is different.  Once this adjustment is made you’re ready to go trolling.

Trolling reels are a great way to go for a fun afternoon. Trolling is also a great way to introduce people to the sport because it’s a little more interactive and you get to move around and see new sights. Have fun trolling.
